The design of the Liebherr pipelayers is orientated around the application requirements of modern pipeline building sites: A comprehensible control with only two joysticks for all travel and steering movements, as well as actuation of the boom reduce the possibility of faulty operation. The tracks of the hydrostatic travel drive, with continuous power to both tracks, and without switch procedures, allow simple traversal of steep slopes. As the travel drive is wear-free, and also works as an operating brake, a reinforced braking system is not needed, even in mountainous terrain. O-lay is originally designed for the development of small offshore oil and gas fields With this concept we show the possibility to use the O-lay installation technology to install Pipe in Pipe (PIP) in ultra deep water. The pipeline which is welded onshore and bend only in its elastic area will keep its original roundness during installation. With the O-lay technology it is possible to use concrete coated pipeline due to the fact that a concrete coating will remain in its elastic form and will not crack or break during the bending applied during the O-lay installation. The crane vessel, which is owned by Subsea 7, was delivered in early 2012. "Designed by Sea of Solutions, the Seven Borealis is based on the design of the SOC 5000 heavy lift crane vessel." LR 13000 sets a new world record with pulley height of 248 m! The LR 13000 is not only the most powerful conventional crawler crane in the world, it is now also the highest. In July 2013 it was erected in its maximum lattice boom configuration at the manufacturing plant in Ehingen, Germany. The combination of the 120 m main boom and the 126 m luffing jib produces a lattice boom system with an overall length of 246 m.
